A couple of weeks ago, I found myself climbing a ladder to help transform a raw space from this…
…to this…
I had the honor of participating in an exhibition that, for three days, hosted unbelievable traffic as thousands from the DC Metropolitan area and beyond flocked to the 14th Street NW corridor to peruse nine galleries participating in the No Kings Collective UMBRELLA pop up. It was quite an experience, both climbing that ladder to paint the HVAC duct AND having the opportunity to meet and talk with a diverse representation of people interested in my work and artists.
Events like UMBRELLA introduce a wide audience to local creatives which is a great way to energize and bring about conversation in the city...hope to see more, so...
keep your peepers open!
ps - Being part of the #tagup gallery space, showcasing artwork from a group of amazingly talented women, added a beautiful page to my book of memorable moments. Each woman was kind, fun, open, supportive, and just a pleasure to share space with. I hope we can do it again sometime soon, though the buildings inhabited those three days have been demolished; yet another residential dwelling will soon rise. Thanks again @lsdfineart @maggieoartist
